A safer, smarter starting point for your electrical system

The switchboard is the central point of your electrical system. Everything from lighting, outlets, and appliances runs through it. In older buildings, switchboards are often outdated, overloaded, or no longer compliant with modern safety standards. In some cases, the condition of the wiring alongside it can also raise safety concerns.

If your switchboard doesn’t include safety switches (RCDs), or if it’s showing signs of wear, it may be time to look at an upgrade.

Why upgrade?

Safety
Older boards often lack residual current devices (RCDs), which are designed to shut off power quickly in dangerous situations. RCDs are a key safety feature, helping to reduce the risk of electric shock or fire. Upgrading the switchboard – often alongside rewiring – can eliminate faults and overheating risks.
Capacity
The electrical load in buildings has grown over time. Devices like heat pumps, EV chargers, and modern appliances place more demand on the system. Many older boards simply weren’t built to handle this. A newer switchboard allows for better load management and future expansion.
Compliance and reliability
A well-designed switchboard keeps your electrical system running smoothly and safely. Installation work is carried out to meet current New Zealand standards, and you’ll receive the appropriate certification on completion.

Whether it’s part of a full rewire or a standalone upgrade, we can assess your existing setup and talk through the options. If you’re planning a new build or renovation, we can also help with switchboard design that matches your load requirements.
